JOHN QUIGLEY Spectral Q images are Living Art in a moment in time where the process of communion is the central event. On his website, Quigley explains that the designs are like a Tibetan Sand Mandala which is meticulously crafted only to be blown to the wind shortly after its completion. While in that moment the goal is an experience of perspective shift which allows for an individual to imagine themselves the tail of a dolphin, the wing of a bird or the tip of South America and ultimately something larger than themselves. The experience is designed to allow for vertical integration where a unified human form communicates directly with the heavens. The photograph becomes a tool by giving a literal reminder that our lives are a work of art.

KELLY HAYES-RAITT scraped together $3,000 and left her Santa Monica home to travel to Iraq to meet its people, just weeks before the war. It was a journey of discovery for the Southern California woman, who longed to talk with everyday Iraqis on the precipice of war -- many of them women and children, soon to be swept into the conflict. "All the time, I was so welcomed," she said. "It was just heartwarming -- and heartbreaking -- to be so welcomed by the very people we (were) about to be bombing." She is giving them a face and voice, sharing her journey with anyone who will listen. Please click here to read a recent journal entry on her visit to Iraq. |
